NCAA Recruiting Process

1. Discuss the student-athlete's motivation to pursue their academic and sports career in the United States.

2. Assess the student-athlete's academic competencies and athletic abilities.

3. The student-athlete must verify his or her eligibility status. To compete in a D-I or D-II sports program, the student-athlete must register to the NCAA Eligibility Center. If the student-athlete applies at the high school level, this does not apply.

4. Determine what entrance exam the student-athlete needs to write (S.A.T., A.C.T, TOEFL).

5. Create a list of universities that caters to the student-athlete's needs.

6. Create a profile to distribute to targeted coaches.

7. Follow-up with coaches. The student-athlete has a responsibility to initiate contact with the coaches.

8. Get in touch with the coach. Do not be shy to ask them questions about their program, school environment and more.

9. If possible, try to visit the school. See what it's like to be on campus.

10.How much will going to school cost your family (tuition, travel, insurance, and more)?
